The long-awaited Shinkansen terminal
at Shinagawa Station opened in October to great fanfare in Tokyo and all over
Japan. Access to the capital via Japan's high-speed rail network has never been
more efficient with the capacity to welcome visitors now effectively doubled by
the new development.
Shinagawa Station is located on the JR Yamanote Line, a loop-line connecting all
of Tokyo's major business and entertainment districts. It is also an important
transport link between the city and its airports. Narita Airport is a 70min limousine
bus ride from Shinagawa Station and Haneda is just 20 minutes away on the Keihin
Line.
With Haneda expected to open to international traffic in the near future, the
importance of the Shinagawa high-speed train link is even greater. Shinagawa shinkansen
terminal will now join Tokyo Station in handling the capital's immense business,
consumer and tourist needs. A significant boost for the capital's future and a
sure sign of things to come for the up and coming district.
Developing the railway terminal has been a springboard for major additions to
the area's business and consumer landscape. Directly accessible from Shinagawa
Station East Exit are the seven new skyscrapers of Shinagawa Grand Commons. Among
them are the new headquarters of the Canon and Mitsubishi corporations. With these
major players having already increased the business concentration value of the
area, other companies are expected to follow their lead. Shinagawa Ward is set
to become a major new centre in the heart of one of the world's most important
capitals.
Directly benefiting the visitor to Tokyo is the 32-floor Shinagawa East One Tower,
the flagship of the Grand Commons. At 149m tall, it is one metre taller than it's
nearest neighbour, the new headquarters of the Mitsubishi Motor Corporation. Exit
Shinagawa Shinkansen terminal via the new east-west station corridor and you are
invited, past a spacious pedestrian area and into an intelligently designed urban
shopping and leisure space.
In the upper reaches of the East One Tower, taking full advantage of the excellent
location and facilities is THE STRINGS by InterContinental Tokyo, the latest addition to the
IHG ANA HOTELS family. Located between the 26th and 32nd floors, the 206 room hotel
commands views of the bayfront skyline and has almost instant access to Tokyo's
transport infrastructure. For facilities the hotel is second to none, offering
2 world class restaurants, a 24-hour fitness centre and 24-hour connectivity to
the hotel's LAN and the internet through the state of the art CHATS (Communications
Hub At The Strings) business centre.
With all that the Shinagawa area now has to offer, the visitor to Tokyo can expect
a smooth arrival, a pleasant stay and a trouble-free departure. |
