Origami
Origami, the art of paper folding has become famous world wide in recent years with numerous books being published in various languages. The most popular folded object is the crane. It has been said for many years that folding a thousand cranes will make your wishes come true. For instance, giving a thousand cranes to those who are sick is considered an act of wishing them fast recovery. Perhaps more well know worldwide is it being a symbol for peace, from the large number of folded cranes on monuments in the peace memorials in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Children and adults alike fold objects from everyday life of varying difficulty such as animals, nature, buildings, food, people, holiday decorations from single or multiple square origami. The most popular besides the crane are boats, airplanes, shuriken (¡Èhand hidden blade¡É or ¡Èninja stars¡É), and kabuto (helmet). Though traditionally objects made from square origami usually fit the size of a palm, there are some who use rectangular pieces, and although rare, there are also others that have stepped to the challenge to make oversized origami objects larger than an average person. Even though originally origami is known for it being a form of art where scissors and glue are not used to bring the various objects to life, though still not the majority, there are some complex projects where scissors are needed for construction. The excitement of origami comes from the ability to bring complexity to the art form with the various types of paper available in different colors and textures.
